Find Daylite items and create new Tasks on the fly!
The quest for improved efficiency is never-ending. I'd like to share a great feature in Daylite that has helped me tremendously with saving keystrokes: Daylite hot keys.
No more constant flipping from Safari to Daylite or Mail to Daylite, etc. just to find a Contact or create a new Task. By configuring a simple Daylite preference setting, you can assign a 'hot key' combo that will quickly create a new Task or bring up Daylite's Quick Find window, even if you're not in the Daylite application.
To set this up, go to Daylite>Preferences>Hot Keys and check the box to Use Hot Keys. Follow the steps below to configure the hot keys for Quick Find and New Task.
- Quick Find: click the Change button next to Show Find Panel. When the sheet drops down just press the keys on your keyboard that you want to use to bring up Daylite's Quick Find window [ I pressed option f ]. You'll see the key combo you chose in the Shortcut field. Click Done.
- Create New Task: click the Change button next to Create New Task. When the sheet drops down just press the keys on your keyboard that you want to use to bring up Daylite's Quick Find window [ I pressed option t ]. You'll see the key combo you chose in the Shortcut field. Click Done.
Now try it out: go to an application other than Daylite (ie Safari). Push the key combo that you defined for Create New Task. Or try out your key combo for a Daylite Quick Find.
