stuff we love: DockStar.
super-charge Mail's dock icon

We all know how Mail indicates the number of unread messages it has: by showing a red circle with a number on it's dock icon. DockStar takes that further by allowing you to define up to 5 new-mail indicators that will visually show you *which* mailboxes have unread messages.

I'll give you an example, illustrated by the screenshot to the right:
I automatically filter incoming email from a discussion board into a custom mailbox called daylite partners discuss. Now by simply glancing at my Mail dock icon, I can see how many unread messages are in that discussion board mailbox, versus how many are in my main Inbox. And that's just 1 of the 5 DockStar badges I have configured!

Why is this important?
DockStar keeps me from being a slave to my Mail, having a knee-jerk reaction every time the Mail icon indicates that a new email has come in. Before DockStar, that discussion board message would have just been included in Mail's standard red circle icon and I would have to go to Mail to make sure that I wasn't ignoring an important client email, only to find out that it was simply a message from the discussion board. Now if I see a number in a blue circle on the lower left corner of my Mail icon, I know it's a message from the discussion board and I can deal with it later, without interrupting my current workflow.
